Don’t forget about the great Spring Renewal troop incentives! Troop leaders, remind your girls and families to renew by May 31 so that you can receive some fun programming materials to use next troop year!

New Program Guide Coming Soon!
We are excited about all the fun programs and events coming up this summer and fall, and we know you will be too! Our brand new Summer/Fall Program Guide will coming out by the end of this month, so keep a lookout. Until then, you can get a sneak peak of what is happening on our online calendar!
Special Olympics at Circle C Equestrian Center
This year, Circle C Equestrian Center will be hosting a Special Olympics Equestrian Team! The Circle C herd is in training and getting ready and now we need volunteers to support our athletes. We are looking for volunteers who can help get horses ready, assist in the arena as sidewalkers or leaders and assist with activities before and after riding practice.
This will be an amazing opportunity for our Girl Scouts to:
- Learn about equestrian competitions, what goes on behind-the-scenes of a horse show and what it takes to compete.
- Learn about Adaptive Riding and what support riders and horses may need to be successful.
- Gain leadership experience and hours.
- Mentor, encourage and share your love of horses with an amazing group of Special Olympics athletes.
In order to be involved directly with the horses and athletes, volunteers will need to be 14 years old and have some horse experience. If you are younger than 14 or lead a younger troop, but would still like to be involved, there may be additional Team Support opportunities available. If you are interested in volunteering in any way, reach out to Cathy Thacker, Outdoor Experience Specialist.
Dates for the Tournament will be September 21-24, 2023, with additional trainings and practices starting in July.

Save the date for Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend, September 9-10, 2023! We are excited to work with several North Carolina State Park partners again this year and will be sharing details soon. We can’t wait to get outside with you as we celebrate all the natural beauty we have in our council’s footprint!

Girl Advisory Board Deadline Approaching
If you are in grades 7-12 and want to be a part of making your voice heard in our council, the Girl Advisory Board (GAB) is for you! As a part of GAB, you will provide input on programming and events while widening your leadership skills! The deadline to apply for this program is June 1.
