Every October, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont and Goodwill Industries partner together to kick off the annual Good Turn for Goodwill service project. This service project teaches girls about Goodwill’s employment and training programs and how the donations they give to the organization help to support these efforts.
From October 1 through the end of the year, Girl Scouts are encouraged to collect bags of gently used clothing and household items to donate to their local Goodwill store. They can also collect unwanted electronic supplies, like computers and old cell phones, to turn in. Along with making their donations, troops are also encouraged to schedule a tour of their local Goodwill store to see behind-the-scenes of how the organization works! (You can also share this virtual tour with your troop.)
All girls who participate in Good Turn for Goodwill during the month of October can receive a patch after the service project is over. To submit your project report and patch order, please fill out this form by December 15.
For more information on where you can drop off donations and the items accepted, please see the full 2023 Good Turn for Goodwill packet here.
Good Turn for Goodwill Patch Design Contest
Like last year, we need our Girl Scouts’ help in designing this year’s patch. See all patch contest rules below and submit your design here by October 31.
