Shop Closing
We hope everyone has a happy and safe Independence Day! Please note that our offices and shops will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of the holiday.
Please note that our Gastonia Shop is also closed today, Monday, July 1. The Gastonia Shop will be open tomorrow, July 2, with a delayed start (11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. and closed 1 – 2 p.m. for lunch). Orders can still be placed online. If you want to redeem Cookie Dough, place an order on our shop order form or by calling 800-672-2148.
Fair Labor Standards Act
In April 2024, the Department of Labor released new FLSA regulations that all employers must comply with on or before July 1, 2024. These new regulations modernize the fair labor and employment standards including regulations defining exempt and non-exempt employees and require that we change the status of most exempt employees from exempt to non-exempt. Changes to an employee’s classification are purely a matter of compliance with federal regulations and do not, in any way, reflect on an employee’s professionalism, skills or critical contributions to our organization. Our team members’ dedication and hard work are deeply valued, and while we have always encouraged a healthy work-life balance in our organization, this reclassification will also ensure we are adhering to the latest legal standards.
While our team will continue to work flexible hours to meet the needs of our members and to successfully complete their job requirements, it does require them to clock in and out. Generally, team members should be able to plan their schedules to include evening and weekend events/meetings within their normal 40-hour work week which means their schedule may vary from week to week. Your impact, as our stakeholders and constituents, should be minimal. Our service center and store hours will remain the same (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. -6 p.m.) with Customer Care available via e-mail and phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Calls and e-mails received outside of an employee’s work hours will be answered and responded to within a reasonable time frame.
We are committed to supporting both our team members and you as our volunteers through these changes and will work with everyone to ensure that both time is managed and organizational needs are met.
Join Us at the Volunteer Conference
It’s your year to shine! Get ready to kick off the new Girl Scout year and join us at our annual Volunteer Conference in either Nebo or Lewisville. This one-day event held in two different locations will bring together volunteers from across our council to get inspired, connect and learn. Enjoy breakout sessions for a variety of levels and interest, an address from our CEO, council department updates, lunch, hands on learning and an opportunity to shop at our Girl Scout Pop Up Shop.
Troop & Service Unit Year End Reports Due Today
Today is the deadline for troop leaders to complete their Troop Year End Report and for Service Unit Banking Specialists to complete their Service Unit Year End Report.
Each year, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont needs to report our progress and success to our communities and membership. We are required to obtain data from troops and service units annually to maintain our 501c3 status. These reports allow us to gather this critical information. Your help is greatly appreciated with this important task.
New Troop Spring Renewal Reward
We’re ready to help you with your back-to-troop needs! All troops that renew 75% of their members by July 31 will earn a $25 gift certificate to use at any GSCP2P Girl Scout Shop or on orders placed using the GSCP2P Girl Scout Shop form! Plus, your troop will be entered into a drawing and could win one of 10 customized troop banners. Renew your membership by logging in to your MyGS account!
Media Girls Applications Open Today
This program is open to girls in all age levels across our council. Virtually meet with professionals once a month to learn about the various careers available in the media industry. Discover your strengths and interests through first-hand experience. You could represent our council during television, news and radio interviews, write blogs and press releases, create social media content, take photos at events and more! Submit your Media Girls application by Friday, August 23.
Vote on Cookie Rewards
It’s time for girls to vote for their favorite reward items for our 2025 Girl Scout Cookie Program. Cast your vote by Sunday, July 7.
Voting and participating in democracy is a valuable life skill! We have several non-partisan events this month that are designed for Girl Scouts of all ages to learn the importance of being an involved citizen and taking action for a cause. Join us for a Be a VoteHer workshop or our virtual She Votes, She Leads session and earn a special patch!
Don’t Miss out on Summer Camp
It has been a wildly fun summer so far- and our first session of summer camp at Camp Ginger Cascades kicks off next week! We still have some spots available for our summer camp programs and we can’t wait for you to join us! All of our overnight campers in grades 6 and up will get to enjoy field trips related to their camp program’s theme. If your girl would like to stay close to home, we are also hosting two Equine Experience Day Camps at our Circle C Equestrian Center in Sophia for all girls in grades 2-5!
