Keeping the Promise
As we start to wrap up an amazing Girl Scout year, we invite you to reflect on our recent celebrations with us. With the support of our volunteers, staff and communities, we are continuing to keep our promise of building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
In the newest edition of our Keeping the Promise newsletter, we highlight how our Girl Scout Leadership Experience model prepares girls for a successful future and how volunteers, young alum, donors, girl members and our council are bringing this model to life.
Celebrate National S’mores Day
Did you know the first known S’mores recipe of this delicious campfire treat was published in the Girl Scouts handbook Tramping and Trailing With the Girl Scouts in 1927? This iconic snack is one of our favorite Girl Scout traditions, and we have several National S’mores Day events hosted throughout our council on August 10. The Triad and Gastonia Girl Scout Shops will be open for special Saturday hours as well. We invite you to bring a friend and celebrate this sweet holiday with us! Membership opportunities will be available on site.
Last Chance to Earn the Troop Spring Renewal Reward
We’re ready to help you with your back-to-troop needs! All troops that renew 75% of their members by July 31 will earn a $25 gift certificate to use at any GSCP2P Girl Scout Shop or on orders placed using the GSCP2P Girl Scout Shop form! Plus, your troop will be entered into a drawing and could win one of 10 customized troop banners. Renew your membership by logging in to your MyGS account!
Adult Learning Scholarships for Leaderee Due This Week
All volunteers are invited to join us at Keyauwee Program Center for Leaderee – an adult learning weekend happening September 20-22. This is a chance for you to take a break from your troop duties and enjoy two fun-filled days packed with engaging classes, delicious food and the company of fellow leaders who understand the joys and challenges of your role.
Don’t let finances keep you from attending. Apply for the Ed Whitmire Scholarship by July 31. GSCP2P registered adults in good standing may apply for up to 50% off the base registration fee for Leaderee, plus up to 75% off the Camp License Course, First Aid/CPR Certification and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

Volunteer Conference Registration Closing This Week
There are three days left to register for our virtual 2024 Volunteer Conference.This interactive event will include breakout sessions for a variety of levels and interest, an address from our CEO, council updates and more. We invite you to kick off the new Girl Scout year with us on Saturday, August 3 as we unite volunteers from across our council to get inspired, connect and learn. Take a look at some of the amazing breakout sessions we have planned for the Volunteer Conference and register by July 31.
If you are not able to attend this event, you can still register and gain access to a recording that will be e-mailed to all registrants after the event. Volunteers will receive two enrichment courses, access to the day’s session recordings and a special gift in the mail.
