Gastonia Service Center Update

Due to the extent of the water damage from the burst pipe at the Gastonia Service Center, the Gastonia Shop and Office will continue to be closed. We anticipate reopening Monday, August 26, but will keep you posted.

You can place orders for pickup or mail by calling 800-672-2148, e-mailing info@girlscoutsp2p.org or completing this shop order form. You can also shop with us 24/7 on our official online shop. If you prefer to shop in person, our Hickory, Asheville and Triad locations are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To reach any staff member, please contact our team at info@girlscoutsp2p.org or 800-672-2148.

Join Us at Circle C Equestrian Center’s Open House

Have you experienced our horses at Circle C Equestrian Center located on Keyauwee Program Center’s property in Sophia? Visit the barn next Saturday, August 24, between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to meet the horses, take a tour and learn more about our Girl Scout and community riding programs! Meet our Riding Instructors, sign up for lessons, join the Riding Instructor-In-Training (RIIT) leadership program or find out more about our year-round horse opportunities. There will be activities, games and fun for the whole family.

We will also be hosting a Girl Scout Sign Up event at Keyauwee Program Center during this time, so bring a friend to explore Girl Scout options and get their uniform at the Trading Post. We will also have some fun activity stations, like bottle rockets, Girl Scout traditions, learn a camping skill and art. Admission is free, but we would appreciate an RSVP.

Can’t attend, but want to support our equestrian programs? You can Adopt Our Herd ! Did you know it costs our council around $5,000 every year to care for each horse at Circle C? The average 1,000-pound horse eats 15-20 pounds of hay per day! It costs over $55,000 per year to provide hay and grain to ensure they get all the vitamins and minerals needed, farrier care that provides new shoes to keep their hooves healthy and veterinary and dental care so the horses can get checkups and yearly vaccines. By making a donation to become a horse buddy and “adopting” one of our beloved herd members, you help ensure that our horses are happy and healthy and that our Girl Scouts can continue to benefit from the special bond between horse and human for years to come.

Enjoy Camp With Your Family

Discover the great outdoors at our Camp Open House and Family Fun Day events happening at Camp Pisgah in September, Camp Ginger Cascades in October and Keyauwee Program Center in November! Bring the whole family to camp for a day of fun, including traditional camp activities like boating, archery, slingshots, climbing wall and arts and crafts. This event will have a drop-in format where families can choose their own adventure for the day.

Looking for more ways to get outside with your family? Register for one of the many Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend events happening across our footprint on September 14 and 15!

Register for Trainfest

We invite all volunteers to join us on the way to your “Emerald City.” Like Dorothy, you’ll discover when you reach Oz that you had the power to reach your Girl Scout goals all along!

Trainfest has been a beloved tradition that helps adult Girl Scout volunteers like you refuel your batteries and rediscover your passion for this important work. Enjoy two fun-filled days packed with engaging classes, delicious food and the company of fellow leaders who understand the joys and challenges of your role. Leave Trainfest feeling energized, connected and ready to lead your Girl Scouts to new heights in the coming year. Learn more about the workshops and certifications offered at Trainfest and register today!

Don’t let finances keep you from attending. Apply for the Ed Whitmire Scholarship by August 30. GSCP2P registered adults in good standing may apply for up to 50% off the base registration fee for Trainfest, plus up to 75% off the Camp License Course, First Aid/CPR Certification and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

Looking for a volunteer learning weekend at Keyauwee Program Center this September? Leaderee registrations are due August 22.
