Message From the CEO: State of the Council Meeting Recap

Thank you to all who joined me for last week’s State of the Council meeting to learn about our Strategic Plan for Membership Year 2025-2027, Membership Year 2025 Budget, upcoming programming and the 57th National Council Session.

The 57th National Council Session will be held virtually by GSUSA on Saturday, October 19. The Zoom details will be posted here, if you would like to hear the discussions happening around a national membership dues increase.

If you couldn’t attend our State of the Council meeting, you can watch a recording of the meeting here.

Below is a quick recap of the question and answer portion of the meeting:

Question: Does the revenue share with a membership increase have a time limit? Is that something that may be negotiated?
Answer: Yes, the time limit originally incorporated into the proposal for the 57th National Council Session is for five years. The revenue share will be based on the final dues amount determined, but, if dues remain less than $65, the revenue share is not included in the proposal. We do hope the time limit will be revised. Carolyn Brickey, our Board Chair, and myself met with a member of the National Board recently. We requested that the National Board reconsider relief options regardless of where the final dues increase lands. The current resolution also incorporates a three year milestone review to discuss what a continuation of revenue share might look like.

Question: Can we share our opinion with delegates on the membership dues issue?
Yes, please use our survey to submit feedback to GSCP2P’s national delegates. You can also submit your proposed solutions to boardofdirectors@girlscoutsp2p.org.

Question: Is there any discussion of delaying this session due to what is happening in our council and many others after the natural disaster?
Answer: There has been discussions, but the decision was made that moving this session is not possible. Delegations have discussed whether or not there is a scope to postpone the action that has been proposed until the 58th National Council Session happening in Washington D.C. in July 2026. We will see if this discussion makes it to the table on Saturday during the 57th National Council Session.

Question: With the Girl Scout Cookie increase to $6 per package in our council, what does the council recommend that troops order this year?
Answer: Our Product Program staff can provide you with projection data to help you prepare for an anticipated decrease in overall sales for the 2025 Girl Scout Cookie Program. We will request that this be covered in the Service Unit Cookie Manager Training, but you can also reach out to our team at info@girlscoutsp2p.org.

Together we welcome a new year of achievements, challenges and adventures. Thank you for being part of the GSCP2P family and supporting us as we continue to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

 Sincerely,

Jennifer Wilcox, CEO
