Today’s Tips 11.4.24

Use Your Voice

Civic engagement and making one’s voice heard is an important priority for Girl Scouts. We emphasize this with our girl membership through civic badges, democracy patches and governance opportunities as a council or National Delegate. A Girl Scout discovering her voice leads to increased confidence as she makes the world a better place. In fact, many women in elected positions were once Girl Scouts (nearly half of the women in congress)!

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont is proud to be a part of the “Nonprofit Staff Vote” campaign and encourages our staff to use their voice this election by offering paid time off to vote. We also encourage all eligible members to get out and vote!

Hurricane Helene Relief Update

We continue to be inspired by the stories of our members stepping in to help those in need in western and central NC. We have a few updates for you all as we continue to receive and respond to requests.

Save the date for Weekend of Service:

We are planning a GSCP2P “Weekend of Service” focused on hurricane relief efforts for November 22-24, 2024. GSCP2P staff and members are invited to join in this weekend by assisting with a variety of volunteer opportunities. We will have a list of council-organized opportunities available soon, but everyone is invited to serve how you wish for that weekend as we celebrate our Girl Scout sisterhood and show love to our GSCP2P in these affected communities.

One P2P Fund now available for disbursement:

Several days after Hurricane Helene, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont established the One P2P Fund to support our staff, Girl Scouts and volunteers. This campaign will provide staff relief, membership and troop support as well as uniform replacement for the GSCP2P council. Distribution decisions will be made by the Fund Development Committee, which includes Board members, staff and volunteers. If you have been financially impacted by Hurricane Helene, please complete this form so the committee can respond to your request.

Keep up the amazing work, Girl Scouts:

We want to thank Girl Scouts in our council who are taking action to help others through the aftermath of Hurricane Helene with a special patch. Please submit your information to the Girl Scout News form and check the Hurricane Helene Relief Stories box.

If you have already submitted a story, thank you! You do not need to re-submit. If you are unsure if you checked the Hurricane Helene Relief Stories box, please e-mail info@girlscoutsp2p.org to confirm you are on our list to receive a special thank you.
