“My sister and I took a trip up to Asheville, NC for a handmade candle or terrarium experience at the Plant House shop to sample some of the 2025 Girl Scout Cookie Program rewards. I chose to make a terrarium which was so much fun because you got to customize it however you wanted and add in all kinds of decorations. You got to choose from either succulents or air plants that you liked depending on your vessel size. I chose a glass container called a “milk jug” because it could fit up to three succulent plants. First when building the terrarium you add rocks in the bottom for drainage when water is added to your plants. Then you fill the glass halfway up with soil.”

“I then dug three small holes with a tiny shovel tool and planted each plant being carful not to damage them inside the container. Placement of the plants was the hardest part. I then chose to add white sand and decorated it with fake flowers, green stems of foliage and some sea shells. On top once all of that was placed I also decided to add some color with blue rocks. I had an amazing time building and learning about how terrariums can be self-suitable. It fits my personality and room style.”

“I wanted to make a candle for my report on the 2025 cookie rewards. When I got there we got all our supplies set up: a tray, a wick, wax, a mixing vessel and a paper towel. I then got to smell all the scents and chose Very Vanilla. I then got to choose my candle vessel and went with a pink iridescent with a lid to keep it safe once it was cooled in between uses. I then dropped the scent from the bottle into the hot melted wax and the entire shop smelled like vanilla! I had to stir for 2 minutes and then put my wick at the bottom of my candle container. It then set up for 45 minutes while I watched it harden. I then was able to burn it for the first time at home and enjoy my personalized candle!”
