Girl Scout Destinations is the ultimate adventure program for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. There’s a unique, life-changing experience for every girl to try as she pushes past her comfort zone and makes new Girl Scout friends from all over the country. That’s what happened to Girl Scout Avery when she attended Broadway Bound, a Girl Scout Destination in New York City!
On this Destination, Girl Scouts get to explore the city, take theater workshops and attend Broadway shows. Not only do travelers explore new foods and cultures throughout the journey, but they also take home the new skills learned and the fond memories made with their new friends along the way.
“We got to see Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Six, & Juliet, Sweeney Todd and Wicked. My favorite was & Juliet – it was a jukebox musical that had their own twist to pop songs! Another amazing thing we got to do was do workshops from Broadway Imagine like Costume Change, Combat, Acting and Ensemble with actors from Broadway shows. When we went to go see Six, we were given a surprise to go meet the cast.”
Broadway Bound is the perfect trip for Girl Scouts interested in the arts, theater and culture; on this adventure, girls will ignite their passions and meet with industry professionals for in-depth career development. “All the girls that were on the trip with me made it feel like a family. We were there for one another, sung songs together and are planning to have a reunion back in New York! I hope that more girls get to experience this or have a chance to be a theater kid like me.”
