Today’s Tips 2.9.26

Celebrate Girl Scout Week

Girl Scouts’ birthday, March 12, commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization’s first 18 members in Savannah, Georgia. Girl Scout Week is celebrated each March, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on a Saturday. In 2026, Girl Scout Week will be observed March 8-14 and celebrated with daily spirit days.

Continue the fun and join us for Girl Scout Fest on Saturday, March 14 in Asheville, Gastonia, Greensboro and Hickory. Together, we’ll dive into hands-on activities from each of the four Girl Scout Pillars, enjoy games, crafts and surprises inspired by Girl Scouts past and present.

Girl Scout Week is a great time to reflect on our history and traditions. From friendship circles and flag ceremonies, to the Through The Decades patch program and check out boxes- there is a fun way for everyone to celebrate our sisterhood. You can even visit our service centers to see unique archives on display! Thank you to the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Archives Committee for curating the Girl Scout Purses display in Asheville, Hats and Scarves display in Gastonia, World Centers display in Greensboro and Product Program display in Hickory.

Special Shop Hours

The Girl Scout Shop located in our Greensboro Service Center is hosting special shop hours this month.

Can’t make it to the shop? Order your favorite Girl Scout gear online 24/7 on the official Girl Scout Shop website.

Nominations are open for the Triad Moms on Main Choice Awards. We’re proud to be part of this great community and need your help! Please nominate Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont as your local favorite Mission Driven Nonprofit and Best Summer Camp before voting closes this Friday!

Girl Board Member Applications Open

Service as a Girl Representative to the Council Board of Directors offers girls in 10th or 11th grade the opportunity to learn leadership and real-world skills needed to work in a business atmosphere. During a Girl Representative’s one-year term, beginning at the Annual Meeting, she will learn about the inner workings of Girl Scouts, how the Board influences and supports the Council and the girls, group dynamics, planning skills and financial accountability. Applications to become a Girl Board Member are open until February 22, 2026.

Thank you to Gayasha Abeykoon and Kaveesha Abeykoon for serving as our 2025-2026 Girl Board Members!

All members are invited to join us at Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 25 as we gather in Thomasville to “Make New Friends while Keeping the Old,” welcome our new Girl Board Members and recognize the amazing accomplishments of our volunteers. Our day of celebration will include lunch, guest speakers and a business meeting with important council updates. Registration will be live on our calendar soon, but save the date as this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Patch of the Month: World Thinking Day

Adult Volunteer Resources & Trainings

Girl Scout Week is a time when we shout our Girl Scout pride from the rooftops! It’s also a time when many troops celebrate the connections between Girl Scouting and their faith, learn more about other faiths and thank faith partners for their support throughout the year.

Girls can join in the festivities on three specially designated dates during Girl Scout Week (or a day of your choosing):

  • Girl Scout Sunday: Sunday, March 8, 2026
  • Girl Scout Jummah: Friday, March 13, 2026
  • Girl Scout Sabbath/Shabbat: Friday, March 13 – Saturday, March 14, 2026

If your troop meets at a house of worship, now is a great time to coordinate ways to show your gratitude. Whether your Girl Scouts participate in a worship service, plan an activity after the service or organize a service project, there are many ways to honor these meaningful connections! Check out these faith resources to help you plan, promote and carry out your efforts.

Everything in Girl Scouting is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law, which includes many of the principles and values common across religions. So while we are a secular organization, Girl Scouts has always encouraged girls to take spiritual journeys via their faiths’ religious recognitions.
