Kendra Scott is celebrating National Girl Scout Week by returning 20% of proceeds to Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont. Today is the last day to support our council through kendrascott.com purchases using the code GIVEBACK-LLZJE or GIVEBACK-GSCP2PAVL26.

P2P Curiosity Quest Welcomes Dr. Mary Lynne Dittmar

We are excited to announce Dr. Mary Lynne Dittmar as our P2P Curiosity Quest guest speaker! Join us in Winston-Salem on Saturday, April 11 for activities led by special guest facilitators from exciting fields across science, technology, engineering, art and more. This event is open to everyone and registration includes your admission to the Kaleideum Children’s Museum. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends to discover what Girl Scouting is all about! Memberships will be available on-site.
Dr. Mary Lynne Dittmar spends a lot of her time thinking about exploring space. She has spent more than 30 years researching to help humans learn how to live and work in space, helping to design homes such as the International Space Station (which has been in orbit for more than 25 years above the Earth) and helping our nation’s decision makers in Congress and in the White House to think about how best to continue U.S. leadership in space, both near the Earth and at the Moon or at Mars. Currently, she advises NASA – the National Aeronautics and Space Administration – as well as industry, on the next steps for humanity in space.

Mary Lynne retired from full-time work in November of 2024 from Axiom Space which is building a new Space Station to replace the International Space Station and space suits for NASA’s return to the Moon which will happen later this decade. Dr. Dittmar guided Axiom’s work with local, state, and federal governments and was responsible for everything the company said to Congress, to the White House, to other federal agencies, and to the press. She has also served our nation by advising the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine which was established by Abraham Lincoln to give wise counsel to the United States on technical matters that can be discussed with the public.
Mary Lynne has always been curious and has loved exploring her entire life, so it is no surprise she is interested in exploring space. She has hiked through the outdoors around the world and “chased volcanoes” for more than 20 years. She was curious academically as well and graduated with Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1989. Today, she lives with her two cattle dogs and small cat in a log cabin overseeing the Broad River near Lake Lure, North Carolina.

Bandit’s Tips For Cookie Program Fun
It is the last week of the Girl Scout Cookie Program, and we hope you enjoyed learning entrepreneurial skills, had fun raising funds for your next adventure and earned financial literacy badges.

Bandit’s Tip:
Wrap up this season with a strong finish! Send e-mail reminders and let your neighbors and friends know about the Girl Scout Cookie Program ending on Sunday, March 15. Promote your final booths and let your customers know this weekend is their last chance to purchase or donate cookies in 2026. As people prepare to stock their freezers, promoting the Buy5 opportunity can be a really effective tool!
Be sure that your paper entries are delivered to your nearest service center by March 24. And don’t forget that you could secure an extra 50-package credit by submitting your Out of the Ordinary entry by March 15.
Cheer On the Harlem Globetrotters
This week, Girl Scouts can enjoy discounted group tickets for The Harlem Globetrotters 100 Year Tour happening in Asheville on Saturday, March 21. From gravity-defying dunks to game-changing tricks, experience the team that redefined basketball!

Adult Volunteer Resources & Trainings
Ready to take girls camping in an established campsite with access to running water, bath house facility and a designated fire ring? In addition to the Overnight & Activity License that is taken online, a Basic Camping Skills License is also required. This in-person course covers useful outdoor skills like fire building, simple cooking over a fire, knots and tents. This license is valid for five years, so if you completed your camp license in 2020 or 2021 it is time to renew! Join us for a virtual Basic Camping License Renewal course or an in-person Basic Camping License course in April.

Learn more about required trainings needed for various activities and always consult Safety Activity Checkpoints to ensure proper safety procedures, including adult volunteer-to-youth ratios, are followed. An Activity and Travel Application should be submitted at least 30 days before a trip or event conducted on non-council property for one or more nights, all trips out of the council’s 40-county jurisdiction and for any activity that requires council approval.
