Today’s Tips 4.6.26

Thank You Volunteers!

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month! We’re kicking off the celebration with a special message to our amazing Girl Scout volunteers from council staff. We invite girls and familes to join in the gratitude by accessing our free family toolkit. Without caring adults, we wouldn’t be the best leadership program for girls. From troop driver to service unit cookie specialist, there are so many ways volunteer efforts empower girls! Be sure to say thank you to all the volunteers in your life this month.

Annual Meeting Registrations Close This Week

Join us in Thomasville on Saturday, April 25 for the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Annual Meeting as we welcome our council’s new CEO and honor the dedication and impact of our volunteers, members and supporters.

This is an opportunity to network, receive important news, participate in voting on key council business and commemorate volunteers during our Adult Awards Ceremony. More than just an event, it’s a chance to “make new friends while keeping the old” as we unite to celebrate the Girl Scout Movement in our 40-county footprint. Light breakfast and lunch are included.

GSUSA Scholarship Applications Due Next Week

Did you know that earning the Gold Award can set you up for success in school, careers and beyond? The GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship is accepting applications through April 14. Eligible Girl Scouts can apply for a $5,000 scholarship to support their educational goals.

Dress up and join us for Her Future, Her Impact: Girl Awards Gala on Saturday, May 16 at Heritage Farm in Dobson. We are celebrating the 2026 class of Highest Award Girl Scouts with an elegant evening featuring dinner, an inspiring guest speaker and a firsthand look at how Girl Scouts are shaping their communities with courage, confidence and character.

All honorees should have received an e-mailed invitation, but everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate these prestigious accomplishments. This is a formal ceremony and preferred dress is either a Girl Scout uniform (white top, khaki bottoms, vest or sash) or gala attire (such as floor-length or cocktail-length formal wear).

CEO Reception Next Week

Join us for a CEO Reception to meet our new CEO, Elaine Loyack. Plus, enjoy some light refreshments and sample the new Exploremores cookies! We have been hosting receptions at each service center since Elaine’s arrival and are hosting our last reception in Greensboro on April 15.

Explore More Summer Camp

We are excited to Explore More Camp! View our 2026 Summer Camp Program Guide to discover all the fun we have planned for overnight campers at Keyauwee Program Center and for day campers joining us in Black Mountain, Greensboro, Hickory and Winston-Salem. In the program guide, you’ll find a readiness quiz to help you choose the best program for you and your camper as well as a scavenger hunt! Submit your scavenger hunt answers by April 30 to be entered into a drawing for a special camp care package.

To apply Cookie Dough, Daisy Dollars or Nut Buck credits to your summer camp registration fees, please contact info@girlscoutsp2p.org.

We want every Girl Scout to be able to attend camp regardless of their financial situation. Once you register for a program and pay a $50 non-refundable deposit, you will have access to our online financial aid application. Receiving financial aid is confidential. Our camp staff do not know who receives financial assistance. Last year, campers who applied for financial assistance received an average of $280 to use on registration fees.

Session Spotlight:
Prepare to embark on a global adventure without ever leaving camp during Around the World! In addition to all your favorite camp activities, this week invites campers to choose their own way to explore both camp and culture. Campers can dive into specialized crafts inspired by global traditions, learn traditional dances from different regions and even participate in outdoor international cooking, trying out flavors and techniques from around the world.

Throughout the week, campers will have countless opportunities to discover new passions, broaden their horizons and learn more about the diverse cultures that make our world so vibrant. Each activity encourages curiosity, creativity and connection as campers explore the world around them. Midweek brings Theme Thursday: Around the World Edition, a day for campers to show off their travels or their dream destinations! Campers can wear t-shirts, hats, scarves or other fun accessories from places they’ve visited—or ones they’d love to explore. It’s a playful, creative way to celebrate global cultures while keeping the focus on fun, imagination and personal experiences. The highlight of the week is our vibrant International Fair, where campers can experience dishes, traditions, games and activities inspired by the home countries of our amazing summer staff. It’s a colorful celebration of global community, curiosity and connection—right here at camp!

Ballpark Summer Nights Ahead

Summer nights at the ballpark are approaching with the 2026 baseball season kicking off! Girls of all ages and their families are invited to enjoy the excitement of America’s pastime during special Girl Scout Nights across the region.

We’re also partnering up with other sports teams for more Girl Scout Nights this summer and bringing a new patch program too! Stay tuned for unique Girl Scout pre-game and post-game experiences.

More discoveries await! Use our Community Partner Directory to schedule unique experiences for your troop.
