In 10 months, Girl Scouts will dominate Orlando as Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and the G-Team (20 Senior and Ambassador Girl Scout Interns from across the country) host an event filled with unforgettable experiences. Girls will gain inspiration, tools to empower themselves and the know-how to lead change in their communities while they connect with some of the most influential women in the world along the way.
Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P) will elect a team of nine delegates at our April annual meeting. Our elected delegates will attend the official National Council Session where they will hear exciting keynote addresses, learn about the state and future of the Girl Scout organization, vote on National Council proposals and elect national board and committee members.
Members age 14 and up are eligible to apply to be one of our national delegates. Click here for the delegate application! Apply now! The deadline for applications is January 31, 2020. Applicants will be notified of their selection by April 1, 2020. Delegates will participate in delegate training sessions (may be live and/or virtual) to learn about the issues that will be brought to NCS and about the meeting format/processes. Elected delegates will be expected to engage with and get feedback from membership regarding the items on the agenda. Delegate travel, hotel and meal expenses during GIRL 2020 are paid by the council. There may be optional activities/excursions that would be paid by the delegates. For girl members, absences MAY be excused by your school administrator on a case by case basis. This is completely at the discretion of the school. We are happy to write a supporting letter for girls who are elected as delegates.
Save the dates and start planning with your family and/or your troop NOW. With the convention and G.I.R.L 2020 being held in Orlando, it is a great opportunity for GSPC2P members to attend. Keeping in mind the travel progression guidelines, troop trips could be planned for Girl Scout Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador troops. Girl Scout Daisies and Girl Scout Brownies can attend with their families.
The G-Team is planning an action-packed schedule of amazing speakers, presenters and interactive programs where girls will be immersed in the themes of Civic Action, Academic Success & Careers, Mental, Physical & Emotional Health and The Girl Scout Difference. Girls will also have opportunities to participate in Take Action service projects with hands-on projects focused on water in the environment.
The G.I.R.L Expo Hall will be the largest-ever, girl-focused consumer show focused on experiences and resources. The Expo Hall will feature Awards Highlights, College Row, a Teen Zone complete with charging stations, climbing walls, ropes challenge course elements, a diving tank, space camp and even a toddler space so the whole family can attend.
