Girl Scout Troop 2345 recently celebrated Karen Bartlett’s contribution to the Girl Scouts in Swain County. Karen is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of the USA, starting out in her mother’s Brownie troop. Under Karen’s leadership, local Girl Scouts accomplished a tremendous amount of learning, adventures and community service. Not only badges, journeys, awards and scholarships, but also fun patches and trips. In the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont council, Karen was on staff as a Membership Manager from 2010 to 2014. Karen is currently volunteering as the Member at Large on the council’s Board of Directors for a three-year term. She also is a member of the Board’s Human Resources Committee and the Adult Recognition Task Force for Board Approved Adult Awards.
