Congratulations to Ann Mellon of Girl Scout Troop 10492 in Watauga County for completing her Girl Scout Silver Award this past year! The park at Hardin Park Elementary School hadn’t received much attention recently, so Ann took it upon herself to revamp the garden altogether. She led a team to help weed out all the old plants and put down both landscaping paper and mulch to prevent the weeds from growing back. Her dad helped her install a bench for students to work on while they were outside and also planted some hydrangeas, as well as some Hosta plants. She learned major time management skills and strengthened her leadership qualities. Way to go Ann!
