| Meet Our Finance Team Our CFO and Finance Team keep our council running efficiently from a numbers perspective- from budgets to payroll and lots of stuff in between. Several important committees also live under this team. The Finance Committee, Audit Committee and Scholarship Trust Board meet at select times throughout the year and help keep our Board of Directors informed. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage MonthHispanic Heritage Month runs September 15–October 15 and it’s a chance to recognize the cultural richness that the Hispanic and Latino cultures bring to our communities. Visit our blog to learn more about how you can celebrate and earn the corresponding fun patch this month. Gastonia Council Shop Closed Thursday The Gastonia Council Shop will be closed this Thursday, September 22. They will have Saturday shop hours from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and back to normal business hours the week of September 26. Good Turn for Goodwill Project Kicks Off in October Running October 1-31, GSCP2P will once again partner with Goodwill for the annual Good Turn for Goodwill service project. Troops and girls are encouraged to collect bags of gently used clothing and household items to donate to their local Goodwill store. This year, girls are also encouraged to collect unwanted electronic supplies- from computers to old cell phones. The collection of these items helps support employment and training programs throughout the Goodwill organization. As part of the service project, a patch design contest is also happening. See full details about the patch contest below. Designs submissions are due by October 31. Camporee Request Forms The Experience Department is excited to introduce the new Camporee Request Form! Camporee requests for spring 2023 are now open. You can use this form to request a camp property, units and staff-facilitated activities. Spring camporee requests must be in at midnight on November 11. After November 11, we will confirm all camporee dates for spring 2023 with the service unit representative. Once all camporee dates are finalized, troop camping will open for all other available dates and units through MyGS. All reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s a great chance to meet other volunteers, make new friends and go home inspired and energized to lead your troop wherever they want to go- while enjoying fall in the beautiful outdoors!
