#TroopTuesday Silver Award: Spreading Love and Showing Kindness

Congratulations to Hala Freeman from Girl Scout Troop 2103 of Gaston County for earning her Girl Scout Silver Award this past year! Hala focused her project on the values of kindness and self-love, as well as advocacy for anti-bullying in her community. Hala worked with her school guidance counselor to form a Kindness Club and hung posters in her school detailing the effects of bullying. She worked with members of the Kindness Club to create a “Give-and-Take Board,” where students could ‘take’ what they needed and ‘give’ what they could to the board. On her own, Hala designed, painted and built a “Buddy Bench” for her school. Most importantly, Hala’s work inspired important conversation in her community about bullying, hope and kindness.
