National Girl Scout Leader’s Day is Next Week

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month! Did you know that April 22 is a day to recognize Girl Scout volunteers who mentor girls, build character and lead troops? There are many ways to celebrate your leader, and our free family toolkit can help! Take a moment to reflect on the new skills and adventures that your troop leader has helped make possible, and be sure to thank them for their support.

Dress up and join us for Her Future, Her Impact: Girl Awards Gala on Saturday, May 16 at Heritage Farm in Dobson. We are celebrating the 2026 class of Highest Award Girl Scouts with an elegant evening featuring dinner, an inspiring guest speaker and a firsthand look at how Girl Scouts are shaping their communities with courage, confidence and character.
All honorees should have received an e-mailed invitation, but everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate these prestigious accomplishments. This is a formal ceremony and preferred dress is either a Girl Scout uniform (white top, khaki bottoms, vest or sash) or gala attire (such as floor-length or cocktail-length formal wear).

CEO Reception This Week

Join us for a CEO Reception to meet our new CEO, Elaine Loyack. Plus, enjoy some light refreshments and sample the new Exploremores cookies! We have been hosting receptions at each service center since Elaine’s arrival and are hosting our last reception in Greensboro on April 15.
Giant Plush Winner and New Mascot Ahead
Congratulations to Natalie H. from Troop 20024 for crushing it during the Fall Product and Girl Scout Cookie Program this year. Natalie earned the Fall Product Personalized Avatar Patch and the Cookie Crossover Patch, securing her entry into a drawing for our Giant Grizzly Bear plush, Spice, from this year’s Fall Product Program.

We are bouncing with excitement to introduce our 2026 Fall Product Program mascot, the Kangaroo! Summer campers will help select top names for our mascot before member-wide voting takes place in the fall.
Sample Summer Camp
Join us for a Keyauwee Camp Tour this Sunday, April 19. Check out our cozy cabins, discover favorite camp spots and meet the friendly camp directors. We’ll wander through key areas, share a few behind-the-scenes highlights and leave plenty of time for questions along the way. It’s the perfect chance to get excited about camp, make new connections and imagine all the adventures ahead!
Want to sample our day camp experience? Join us for Brownie Day Camp in Brevard on Saturday, May 9! We will have a sampling of camp activities including outdoor skills, teambuilding, arts and crafts and more!

Saddle Up for Fun
Girl Scouts of all ages are invited to join us at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring on Saturday, May 2 for Let’s Go to a Horse Show! Together, we’ll watch riders compete in various classes, observe exhibitors and learn more about the excitement of equestrian competition.

Good news! We have added additional spots to our Horseback Archery summer camp session happening July 19-24. While horse camps are almost full, our herd is excited to see all of our overnight campers for some equestrian fun! All overnight summer camp sessions include an equestrian experience at no additional charge.
Explore More Summer Camp
We are excited to Explore More Camp! View our 2026 Summer Camp Program Guide to discover all the fun we have planned for overnight campers at Keyauwee Program Center and for day campers joining us in Black Mountain, Greensboro, Hickory and Winston-Salem.
In the program guide, you’ll find a readiness quiz to help you choose the best program for you and your camper as well as a scavenger hunt! Submit your scavenger hunt answers by April 30 to be entered into a drawing for a special camp care package.
To apply Cookie Dough, Daisy Dollars or Nut Buck credits to your summer camp registration fees, please contact info@girlscoutsp2p.org.

We want every Girl Scout to be able to attend camp regardless of their financial situation. Once you register for a program and pay a $50 non-refundable deposit, you will have access to our online financial aid application. Receiving financial aid is confidential. Our camp staff do not know who receives financial assistance. Last year, campers who applied for financial assistance received an average of $280 to use on registration fees.

Session Spotlight:
Step right up! Welcome to Circus Camp, a week full of laughter, color and carnival fun Under the Big Top! Campers will explore the magic of the big top by juggling with scarves, spinning frisbees, balancing on beams, playing silly clown games and making bright carnival crafts. Every activity is designed for fun and creativity-no experience needed! Alongside these circus adventures, campers can enjoy all their classic camp favorites like climbing, archery, boating, horseback riding and team-building games, giving them plenty of ways to play, explore and make new friends. During Explore More activity blocks, campers can pick what excites them most-whether it’s learning clown tricks, decorating carnival props or flying on the rock wall.
Midweek brings Theme Thursday: Big Top Day! On this special day, campers can dress in bright carnival colors, silly clown accessories or fun circus outfits-think clown noses, top hats, sparkly vests or colorful scarves. It’s a playful, creative way to celebrate the magic of the circus and make the day even more festive and fun! The week wraps up with an all-camp carnival, full of fun games, crafts and activities for everyone to enjoy. It’s a week of magic, laughter and big-top fun that campers will remember all summer!
