Today’s Tips 10.19.26

Say Yes to the Vest

“Say Yes to the Vest” and get ready for the Girl Scout adventures ahead with a new uniform! Shop at the Asheville, Gastonia, Hickory and Triad service centers now through October 29 to enjoy a complimentary drawstring bag and patch with each full uniform purchase! Find our addresses and hours of operation.

Please note that the Pop Up Shop in Gastonia will be closed this Thursday, October 22.

Two Cookie Deadlines Tomorrow

The Cookie Hoodie Design Contest is back for another year of fun and creative expression! Create your cookie-themed masterpiece and let the council staff vote on the victor. The winner will see their artwork brought to life by our talented marketing team and receive a free hoodie! Submit your artwork by October 20 and mark your calendars as pre-orders for the winning design start on November 2! Pick up in-store in January or opt for shipping (costs apply).

Troops that would like to guarantee Gluten-free Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies (GFCCC) for the 2027 Girl Scout Cookie Program should submit their pre-order by October 20. Because these cookies are produced separately from our regular cookie lineup and baking capacity is limited, they are available to council on a preorder basis.

Only one pre-order per troop should be submitted. Pre-ordered cookies will be included with the troop’s initial cookie order. Council will order a limited number of additional cases, which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registrations Closing This Week

Today is the last day to register for our virtual Intro to Safe Babysitting course that is happening on Monday, October 26. While this course is only for Girl Scout Cadettes, there are additional Safe Sitter courses coming up that are open to other ages, like the Safe@Home course for Juniors and Cadettes or the Safe Sitter Essentials course for Cadettes and older.

Friday, October 23 is the last day to register for the ABB Girls in STEM Day. Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors are invited to join us in Mebane on Monday, October 26 for engaging STEM activities, a tour of ABB’s facility, meeting STEM professionals and learning more about the exciting possibilities available in STEM fields. Leave with new skills, inspiration and earn the ABB Girls in STEM patch!

Hopper’s Fall Product Tips

The Fall Product Program is a great way for Girl Scouts to learn business skills while earning start up funds for the amazing Girl Scout year ahead. In addition to troop proceeds, Girl Scouts who participate can earn Nut Bucks and other reward items. Plus, troops who participate in the 2026 Fall Product Program and sell at least 100 items will receive an additional $0.05 per package of cookies sold during the upcoming Girl Scout Cookie Program.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to create your avatar and online storefront! Our mascot, Hopper, has some tips for Fall Product Program success:

  • Practice good bookkeeping! Today is the last day to take in-person orders for candy/nut items that will be delivered by girls. It is also the last day for parents/girls to enter candy/nut orders from the order card in the M2 system. Do not enter girl-delivered online orders as these are already in the system.
  • Review your progress! Take a moment to celebrate the rewards you have earned and discover what rewards are you close to earning. Has your troop secured the Crossover Financial Bonus for the Girl Scout Cookie Program by collectively selling 100 items? Do you need to update your online store or e-mail messages based on your findings?
  • Practice customer appreciation! Show your customers gratitude and thank them for their support as you continue to reach your goals. You could give them an update on the progress you’ve made toward your goals and also let them know that if they want to place any other orders with you during the program, it will need to be through your online store as you are no longer taking orders with your paper order card. You can express your gratitude in many creative ways! Try a handwritten thank you card, e-mail or even a video.

Where Can Girl Scouts Take You?

Girl Scouting can take you on adventures near and far, and participating in the Fall Product Program and Girl Scout Cookie Program can help pay for your Girl Scout travels. Discover GSUSA Getaways, ready-made troop experiences, and GSUSA Destinations, opportunities for individuals to travel with Girl Scouts from all over the nation.

Want to hear from past travelers or get the inside scoop? Join us for a virtual Adventure Awaits: Your Passport to Girl Scout Destinations on Tuesday, November 3!

Explore Aquaponics with 100 Gardens

Discover how fish, plants, water and people work together to create a sustainable growing system at one of our aquaponics events with 100 Gardens! Girl Scouts will create their own mini aquaponics systems to take home and continue growing and learning.

Where Community Grows: Good Turn for Goodwill

It was brought to our attention that a postcard from Goodwill was delivered to members addressed to incorrect names. We are looking into this error, but all members are still invited to participate and earn the patch.

Every year in the fall, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont and Goodwill Industries partner together to kick off the annual Good Turn for Goodwill service project. This service project teaches girls about Goodwill’s employment and training programs and how the donations they give to the organization help to support these efforts. Find full details on how to participate and earn the patch on our blog!

More discoveries await! Use our Community Partner Directory to schedule unique experiences for your troop.

Adult Volunteer Resources & Trainings

Looking for resources for your next meeting, event, training or day camp? Look no further! Program Check Out Boxes are available at each service center and include supplies and an activity guide. The Ozobot Box, Lego Robotics Box, Build Her Way Lego Box, Traditions Box and Decade Boxes (40s, 50s, 60s, 70s) are available. Rent these resources to work on coding and robotics badges, Build Your Way to Bronze Award activities or the Through the Decades patch program.
